Ford Ranger sales show signs of a recovering from a generational changeover. As such, 2024 Ranger pickups are finally reaching dealers, and the 2.7L V6 EcoBoost has been added to the mix as part of Job 2 production.
We expect sales to continue growing as buyers consider, and take delivery of, The Blue Oval’s all-new midsize pickup truck. But an all-new model from Toyota and recent all-new entries from Chevy and GMC won’t make that easy.
A year ago May, the all-new 2024 Ford Ranger debuted with all-new tech and a 2.7L V6 EcoBoost. The carryover turbocharged Ford 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost gasoline engine produces 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, while the new, optional twin-turbocharged Ford 2.7L V6 EcoBoost generates 315 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Both are mated exclusively to the Ford 10-speed automatic transmission, giving the new Ranger a payload capacity of up to 1,805 pounds and a max towing limit of 7,500 pounds.
The 2024 Ranger also debuts the high-performance Ranger Raptor, powered by the twin-turbocharged Ford 3.0L V6 EcoBoost, which will be sold in the U.S. for the very first time after existing in international markets for years now. The engine is rated at 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque on premium fuel, sending power to the wheels via Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission, an electronically-controlled on-demand two-speed transfer case, and front- and rear-locking differentials.
That means the 2024 Ford Ranger line-up is offered in XL, XLT, Lariat, and Raptor trim levels.
In addition to new styling inside and out along with a handful of other major changes, the 2024 Ranger nearly matches the EPA fuel economy ratings of its predecessor, as Ford Authority recently reported.
Interest-free financing, lease deals on midsize luxury crossover.
A simple yet effective way to secure things in the bed.
It's reportedly far more efficient than current methods.
The Blue Oval ranked pretty close to the top, too.

OMG, the Ranger barely beat the Canyon. That is not good by any means, since the Canyon is basically a limited run Colorado. Surprising the Gladiator is doing so poorly, I wonder if it's just the funky styling.
And how in the world does a Ridgeline somehow "straddle" the mid-size/full-size pickup market? It barely qualifies as a mid-size pickup since it's barely a pickup.
And Maverick beat 'em all in sales.
If they made that in an EV I'd buy it for the wife in lieu of an SUV.
To increase volume easily, Ford could offer an extended cab with rear seat delete and a longer bed. The margins would be lower, but filling up plant capacity with profitable sales is the key. That's why Honda isn't crying over low sales of the Ridgeline - it's adding a few units to the Alabama plant and keeps Honda loyalists in the fold.
Price. Nice mid-size but the price is a bit high if you want a few options. Hopefully a few incentives in the future will make it a better deal. I’m interested but can wait.
When is job2 going to start, I am waiting on my 2.7 Lariet .
When is the Job 2 going to begin? Waiting for my 2.7 Lariat
At this point, I'll just wait for 2025, maybe Ford will offer the 4A transfer case, rear seat vents, and ventilated seats like Canyon/Colorado.
I wish Ford would start selling the Ranger PHEV in the U.S. Its a shame the rest of the world can buy it but not in the U.S. And from an American company no less.
In 2026 we will, hopefully, have the option for the Ranger PHEV w/ Power on Board. That configuration would sell very well.
