2018 will mark 50 years since the 302 (5.0) V-8 replaced what Carroll Shelby called “The best engine Ford made” the great 289 V-8. I agree. But, we’re talking only about the 302 (5.0 if you must) Rumors abound, that soon, the Mustang will lose the legendary 5.0, and the F-150 won’t offer a V-8 option either. It will be a sad, sad, and BAD day.
I have a guess: Perhaps, since 2018 marks the 50 year anniversary since the 302’s intro, that it will go out in grand fashion during the 2018 model year. Maybe, just maybe, Ford will finally bump the F-150’s 5.0 Horsepower to match the Mustang GT. It should have been done with the 2015 model.
