The Nissan Rogue rounded out the top five with a six percent dip to 47,461 units.

The Subaru Forester placed sixth with a four percent bump to 46,107 units, while the Kia Sportage, corporate cousin to the Tucson, placed seventh with an eight percent uptick to 45,871 units. The Ford Authority Take

The Ford Escape placed mid-pack during the second quarter of 2025 in the compact crossover space – the biggest utility market in the U.S. In doing so, the Escape was able to not only outperform the segment average, but also to gain a point in segment share.

Though the model was individually outpaced by crosstown rival Chevy Equinox, which placed third, combining sales of the Escape with the Bronco Sport put The Blue Oval ahead of GM even when adding GMC Terrain sales to those of the Equinox.

Ford took fourth overall in volume this quarter, behind the Hyundai-Kia conglomerate in third and of course the two leaders – the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, which took first and second place, respectively.

Alas, the Escape is planned for discontinuation by 2026, though it will stick around long enough to see the 2026 model year, as exclusively reported by Ford Authority.

About Ford Escape

The 2025 Ford Escape loses quite a few previously-standard features, coupled with a few additions – but every trim is cheaper than before.

Those deletions for the 2025 model year include the dropping the Cold Weather Package, which was bundled with all-wheel drive models. It is still available as an option. The 2025 Escape has ditched Active Park Assist 2.0 on all trims as well, becoming the latest Blue Oval model to do so.

The Active trim level drops the standard eight-way power driver’s seat, replacing it with a six-way manual seat. It also drops its premium wrapped steering wheel in favor of a urethane unit for the new model year. And the bumper was altered from the 2024 model.

The ST-Line is ditches its aluminum foot pedals that were previously standard on all three ST-Line trims, while the ST-Line Elite and Platinum are ditching the previously-standard ambient lighting. For 2025, the ST-Line and ST-Line Select are ditching their monochromatic painted bodyside cladding, rocker panels, and bumpers in favor of molded-in-color components. ActiveX seating has replaced leather in the ST-Line Elite with the Premium Technology Package, as well as the PHEV model when equipped with the Premium Package, too.

The 2025 model has also ditched its spare tire in non-hybrid models, which no longer come with that part as standard equipment, and instead, The Blue Oval has gone back to equipping them with the Tire Inflator and Sealant Kit, though a spare is still available as an option for pure ICE models. Finally, rain-sensing wipers are dropped on the ST-Line Elite and Platinum trims, too.

As far as exterior colors go, Space Silver Metallic has been added as a no-cost option for all trims, though two colors are gone, namely, Iconic Silver Metallic and Race Red.

  1. Just in time for it to be discontinued. Such brilliance. In fact, it should be selling like hotcakes, with big discounts since it’s one of the few in the class made in America and should be tariff-free.

  2. My Son bought a used 2022 Escape Hybrid a year ago. 41mpg average with the most comfortable auto seats I’ve ever sat on!

    1. Our son bought a used Escape about 10+ years ago with over 75,000 miles on it. Years later it got hailed on and was totaled by the insurance company, but he worked a deal to keep it as it ran good. Now only has Liability Insurance and over 300,000 miles and never had the engine or trans overhauled. Still runs great! Nobody parks near him if they have a nice looking vehicle.

  3. Drop your best selling CUV with no replacement. Brilliant move 🙄. I’m sure Farley can get all those 200,000 annual buyers into a Mach E 😂. Most likely those buyers will gravitate to Hyundai, Kia, Chevrolet, or Jeep.

    1. Chevrolet, Hyundai and Kia, in that order, will top my list. Jeep has nothing, yet, in this size class.

  4. I’m convinced Jim Farley doesn’t want success and why should he because theirs no repercussion for his decisions. I wonder how many escapes would sell if ford advertised as much as Toyota?

  5. Farley has to go. Escape Hybrids in FWD or AWD should be sales successes. More space, good features (so the beancounters decontent them), decent comfort, and Ford dealers across the land for service on trips if needed.

  6. Would be thrilled if Ford would decide to keep making the ESCAPE and determine to make it the very best in its class whole heartedly. They would surprise themselves and do sincerely believe they’d be amazed with their results!
I have no doubts about it. They have to really want it to happen. Yes they can succeed !
Dealers would have to want it also – Team effort – would be fun & exciting – The American way.

  7. Great strategy to kill the Escape especially as it gains market segment.
Can’t ever have anything too much in demand.

    Thank you Mr. Farley

  8. First discontinue the Edge and now the Escape. We ordered a 2024 Ford Edge ST on the last day that we could when we heard that it was being discontinued as my wife’s 2018 Edge Titanium had a little over 100,000 miles and loved it so much, that we thought we would get another Edge while we still could.
I guess Farley doesn’t want people to buy what they want and love.

  9. Farley needs to be fired. Went to Ford to replace one of my 2018 Escapes. Only thing available within 400 miles Was a fwd Hybrid or a 3 Cylinder…Closest 2.0Turbo was over 400 miles away in MI. And now I cannot wait and get a 2026 because they won’t be sold in NY. I’ve owned 29 Fords. I just ordered a Forester. You are a joke Farley.
