With a 77 percent increase in sales volume to 10,414 deliveries, the Mustang Mach-E was Ford’s best-selling EV. The battery electric vehicle is in very high demand, causing FoMoCo to close order books for the 2022 model year back in April. Recently, Ford revealed the new 2023 Ford Mustang Nite Pony Package that gives the electric pony a sinister (yet tasteful) black-out treatment.

The Ford F-150 Lightning placed second in terms of Ford electric vehicle sales volume, recording 6,464 deliveries during the third quarter of 2022. The Lightning continues to exceed FoMoCo’s expectations in terms of consumer demand, which far exceeded the automaker’s production capacity from the start.
The full-size electric truck continues to see sales increase with each passing month. In addition, the Lightning has become a mainstay on Kelley Blue Book’s list of the most considered electrified vehicles.
The Ford E-Transit placed third in terms of Ford electric vehicle sales volume during the quarter, posting 1,379 deliveries. U.S. shipments of the Ford E-Transit began back in February, and the new electric van immediately took the top spot in its segment in April. It has continued to hold that position in June, August, and September.
It’s also worth noting that FoMoCo is now the second best-seller of EVs in the United States, just behind Tesla. In fact, Ford recently announced a significant reorganization that will separate its EV and ICE vehicle businesses into two distinct entities – Model e and Ford Blue, respectively. The automaker previously announced that its future EVs will consist of its more iconic models, as well as commercial vehicles, with the portfolio set to grow rapidly in the near- to medium-term future.
As it stands, the biggest obstacle to Ford electric vehicle sales is production capacity, currently limited by batteries, electric motors, and microchips. To that end, Ford Motor Company has announced plans to double EV production to 600,000 units per year by 2024, with the objective including increased production of the Mach-E, F-150 lightning, and E-Transit. After that, the automaker plans to produce two million all-electric vehicles annually by 2026.
