Ford Transit Connect sales grew 30 percent during Q1 2024, when ranked by sales volume, for 4,965 deliveries to lead a segment that automakers with a presence in North America decided to completely abandon several years ago. The Transit Connect (see running Ford Transit Connect sales) was declared officially dead after the 2023 model year and its only remaining competitor, the Ram ProMaster City, received a similar fate, canceled after the 2022 model year. Sales of that model plummeted 99 percent for just 38 deliveries. Another competitor in the compact van space, the Nissan NV200, exited the market a few years ago.

Sales of the Ford Transit Connect were surprisingly robust during the first quarter of 2024 as buyers continue to snap up inventory that is still available. But after any remaining units are gone, the compact van segment will be completely extinct, as all models in this space have been discontinued.
The 2023 Ford Transit Connect did not introduce any major changes to the compact van line. The current-generation model has been in production and largely unchanged since the 2014 model year, though it did undergo a mid-cycle refresh for the 2019 model year. However, the 2023 Transit Connect ditched its optional 2.5L I4 engine and is now only available with the the 2.0L I4 engine.
