I just read what looks like your follow up in Ford Transit Connect USA, that is great news! C. A. Russell Ford in Springville, Alabama told me the same thing. I was wondering about the point you made before in saying “Plus we’ve already run two tank fills of the eFuels in the van without issue, other than learning that we can’t top it off with just 10.00 or it will send a lean code”.

Did you ever figure this out? I just bought a 2023 Ford Transit Connect with the 2.0 engine and have been similarly told conflicting things and after talking to Ford in Springville, Alabama and then looking at used engine websites, I have a strong feeling that if there is no software needed to optimize up to E85 fuel, it should be fine to use up to E85. EFlexFuel support said the 2023 FTC with the 2.0 is already Flexfuel compatible and added that every gasoline vehicle after 1990 is at least able to have E85 run through it without damaging anything.

I get a stronger suspicion the more I look into this – especially after what you said – that Ford just charges you for a Flexfuel upgrade, pops on the yellow fill hole, and calls it a day.

I have a 2019 Ford Taurus with the 3.5L V6 TIVCT ENGINE. I have had a check engine light for over a year that the shop just continues to reset saying it must be the fuel system. I also have noticed a small “miss” when I sit in the car with it idling. Nothing big, just a small hiccup. Had the spark plugs and all of that changed thinking at 123,000 miles it was due and would fix it. NO! It lasted so long and the professionals just kept saying don’t worry about it. 2 months ago I was headed home from work and the check engine light began blinking. I was just a few miles away so I watched the temperature and drove home. It was losing power trying to pull a hill but straightened out when I got on flat ground. I found that this engine and the water pump design have been known to be faulty for years. The water pump’s internal location, driven by the timing chain means that leaks mix antifreeze with engine oil and can lead to catastrophic failure. There is also a class action on this because Ford did not disclose the defect. We took it to a Ford dealer who acted like they had no idea what was going on and told me I needed a new engine. We told them there was no water in the oil when I got it shut down and we had it towed to them, so if there was water now, they did it. I wanted them to check it because I knew there was no way the heads were cracked since the engine never got hot. I had the car towed to a family owned shop who was perplexed as well. However, my husband asked him to replace the timing chain and the water pump, run oil through it a few times and give us a call. This fixed it. The way the water pump is driven by the timing chain, when the water pump began to fail the timing jumped. He deduced that because only 3 of the 6 cylinders had reduced power. Seeing that this has a dual overhead cam, he figured the timing jumped on the back side causing those 3 cylinders to lose power. When the mechanic got everything off and reinstalled he showed us how the water pump was about to blow apart and it affected the oil pump as well.

I just want to warn others, if you have this engine and start having these symptoms, small miss in the engine that can’t be diagnosed, check engine light comes on constantly with no apparent fix or they say it is the fuel system, and your vehicle is close to 100,000 miles, you may want to take preventative measures and have the water pump and timing chain evaluated. It still cost me $5,000 to have fixed, but it was better than an $11,000 engine or just a totally new car.

So.. here’s what’s happen over the last 4 years of owning a 2020 Connect.. we’ve had to deal with issue of not being able to locate performance parts for the van. Things like Cobra springs failed and the 8 different end links failed also. However bright spots came when we discovered that a 28mm Hardrace sway bar (designed for a Ford KUGA) can and does fit the van. Our next accomplishment came when we had CSS out of KS/USA create a set of 20% stiffer 2” shorter lowering springs for the van. But after 6 months, we ran into an issue where the OE shocks had to much up travel thus allowing these rear springs to fall out. When the drivers side spring fell out, the van’s fender edge made contact with the rear tire. cutting out a nice grove. For one month, we weren’t able to drive the van and had to rely on friends/family to transport us to work. during that time, I was able to locate a chart listing several well known shock manufactures. I was searching for a shock that has a limited up travel of approx 16.70 to 16.80 inches. The OE shocks have an up travel of 18″ which allowed the 2” shorter customs springs to fall out. We located the Monroe 66608 shocks which have a limited up travel of 16.88 inches. However, we had to custom mill a set of shock sleeves and spacers in order to make these class 3-6 shocks work on the van. They did and for 20 days we’ve not had any issues with this setup. Though the ride is a bit harsh.. the entire suspension as a whole is worth it. Any connect owners want a stiff but lower suspension springs for this van, contact CSS and ask for the “Flord Performance” springs for your 2019-2023 Transit Connect. But as a warning, you will need to install the Monroe 66608′ shocks with modificcied sleeves and thick washer spares to make these shocks work on your van. This is why i’ll never take our 2020 Connect to a ford dealership.. we’ve actually removed all that fordpass junk and removed the shark fin from the roof of our van.

i HAVE NO SMART PHONE AND WILL NEVER GET ONE. I AM ONE OF THOUSANDS OF SENIORS WHO HAVE LANDLINES AT HOME AND WORK.

I OWN A 2023 FORD MAVERICK XL AND HAD OIL CHANGED LAST WEEK, BUT COULD NOT SIGN UP FOR THE FORDPASS REWARD PROGRAM, DUE TO THE IDIOT GEN-X REQUIREMENT OF PAYING FOR A SMART PHONE
TO REGISTER FOR THIS PROGRAM AND SAVE MONEY WITH FORD SERVICE.
WELL, THE WARRANTY SAYS I CAN GET SERVICE ANYWHERE AS LONG AS I HAVE A PAPER TRAIL. I CAN GET A SIMPLE OIL CHANGE AT DISCOUNT TIRE FOR UNDER $70. IINSTEAD, I WAS CHARGED $122 BY LITHIA FORD IN FRESNO, CA.
IN MY DAY WE CLIPPED COUPONS AND HAD EQUAL RIGHTS WITH ALL USERS. WE SENIORS WITHOUT IDIOT SMART PHONES THAT HAS DESTROYED THE INTELLIGENCE OF AMERICA AND ALLOWS THEM IN THE CLASSROOM TO PLAGERIZE, WITH AI IN THE CLASSROOM, IS THE DOWNFALL OF AMERICA.
FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE DISPENSATION CARDS TO ALL SENIORS FOR THE NEXT 20 YEARS UNTIL WE DIE OUT FOR THIS REWARDS PROGRAM TO BE EQUAL TO ALL VEHICLE OWNERS, FACE FACE POSSIBLE LITIGATION FOR DISCRIMINATION!! WE WOULD APPRECIATE AN IMMEDIATE PROGRAM REVISION, SINCE WE LOVE OUR FORDS, BUT MOST LIVE ON FIXED INCOMES! GARY DALOYAN

End of August I read here that the 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid was towable behind my RV with all 4 wheels on the ground, Flat towable. So I order one and patiently waited. About a week ago I was notified my vehicle is in production. Being one that preps, I saw the owners manual was finally available for download and proceeded to read it. I get to the part where recreational vehicle towing is discussed and low and behold the manual states the AWD Hybrid can not be towed behind a RV unless it is on a dolly… I head over to the Maverick Forum and see the discussion there about flat towing and it is still a huge question.

Seem that back in August the approval was to flat tow. But the manual is not stating that and now that the manual is out, the questions are coming and there is no firm, solid answer yet. I suggest If you have one of these Mavericks on order to get with your dealer for verification and DOCUMENTATION in case the manual is not corrected. You could be on the hook for tranny replacement, could, we don’t know yet. I haven’t had any luck so far getting any Ford person to acknowledge one way or the other besides showing me the article by Ford Authority.. which isn’t exactly Ford, but an Independent media outlet.

Can someone explain to me why this truck is “coming to thailand” and not America? Why must the USA be locked in on 4×4 off road when a very small percent of buyers are actually driving off road? Not to mention the slide downward in performance.

My 2018 Ford Escape with a 1.5 liter, 4 Cylinder Ecoboost engine failed at 35k miles even though it was regularly serviced at the correct intervals including the comprehensive 30k mileage service that was done in April of this year (i.e., all the documentation is in Ford’s database). Ford is now telling me that I need a new engine at a cost of $7400 for the engine and $5700 for installation. According to Ford, the failure was oil leaking into the cylinders. Of course, the engine is out of warranty due to time, not mileage. I know there have been issues with these engines for coolant leaking into the cylinders due to a defect in the engine block or in the cylinder head seals. Apparently, Ford felt the same way and initially offered to pay for the new engine as long as I was willing to pay for the installation (i.e., this was a verbal offer from my Ford dealer after they requested Ford assistance since they also agreed that this was an unusually early failure for such an engine). Even though I suspect that I had a faulty engine, I verbally agreed to the terms, since the car is out of warranty. However, Ford is now tied up in their internal approval process that has lasted >1 month with no approval in sight. I have a couple of questions for this forum: 1) Has anyone experienced an engine failure on a Ford Escape like mine, and if so, how was it resolved? 2) Any suggestions on my path forward to resolving this?

I am extremely disappointed in Ford’s decision to stop providing vehicle owners manuals. My parents are in their 80s and have been purchasing Ford vehicles since the 1950s. When they asked for a manual, the dealership said it is online and if they wanted a paper copy, could print it out or go to the Helminc.com web site and order one.
We went to the website and since March 2024, the manual has been out of stock. When speaking to Ford customer service, the best they could do is give a phone number where I could order a manual for $54.
This inconvenience and inability to provide a paper manual to vehicle owners really makes me wonder why we continue to purchase Ford vehicles.
My parents live in a rural area where cell phone service is spotty, they do not own a smart phone and have limited computer skills. To ask them to read the manual online or reference it on that ridiculously large screen that is in the Edge demonstrates to me that Ford no longer cares about their older customers.

Hi I read that these engines share most of the components except the turbo. The compression is a lot higher in the duratec so I am assuming the pistons are different but I’m not a gearhead so I don’t know if there was a way to raise the compression through another way like the new vct?

I am wondering this because I am looking at pros and cons of the 1.0 and 1.5 3 cylinder Ecoboost engines. I am wondering if there would be a way to add a twin turbo setup to a duratec and get a tuner to use figures higher than the formula race car of 200hp/tq

My goal was to find the power to weight similar to the cobra 260 V8 engine in a much lighter 3 cylinder and total car weight of 1500lbs.

I’m still looking at other motors but for and Nissan are clearly available, affordable, and the most powerful for size compared to a 1.6 Toyota GR.

This is a daily driver not for racing, but I know when I am no longer able to drive it, the next person would love it.
