Of the nine nameplates that make up FoMoCo crossovers, four experienced an increase, three saw a decrease in overall sales volume, and two are brand-new to the market. The four models to experience growth were the Ford Explorer, Lincoln Corsair, Lincoln Aviator, and the Lincoln Nautilus. Meanwhile, the Ford Escape, Ford Edge, and Ford EcoSport were the three models that were in the red. The Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Mustang Mach-E are all-new models and therefore don’t have a year-over-year comparison.
The established Ford Explorer and Ford Escape outsold the other FoMoCo models by a substantial amount, with the Explorer recording 65,244 deliveries and the Escape selling 40,990 units. Despite the 16 percent increase in sales, the Explorer saw its segment share fall one point to 20 percent compared to 21 percent in the year-ago quarter (see Ford Explorer sales). The Escape saw sales decline nearly 15 percent and its segment share fell two percentage points from the year-ago quarter (see Ford Escape sales).
The all-new Bronco Sport saw 23,356 sales (see Ford Bronco Sport sales), outselling the Ford Edge by 1,206 units (see Ford Edge sales). For its part, the Edge saw sales decline over 25 percent during Q1 2021 with its segment share also slipping two percentage points to four percent compared to six percent in Q1 2020.
The Ford EcoSport saw the smallest decline of less than one percent during the quarter (see Ford EcoSport sales).
Meanwhile, the Mustang Mach-E is finally hitting dealer lots and accounted for 6,614 units during the first quarter (see Ford Mustang Mach-E sales), outselling two of the three Lincoln crossovers, the Aviator (see Lincoln Aviator sales) and Nautilus (see Lincoln Nautilus sales).
Notably, every Lincoln crossover experienced sales growth during the first quarter of 2021. The Corsair saw sales increase by 25 percent (see Lincoln Corsair sales), the Aviator experienced growth of over seven percent, and the Nautilus grew over two percent.
Despite the increase in sales, two out of three models saw their segment share shrink, with the Aviator dropping one point to seven percent and the Nautilus falling two points to four percent. The Corsair’s segment share remained stable at nine percent from the year-ago quarter.

What’s going on at LINCOLN??? FORD Explorer sales 65k, AVIATOR 6k, Escape 40k, Corsair 7k, Edge 22k, Nautilus 5k. All of these are the same models under different brands. LINCOLN lineup is too quiet and boring they really need to make some noise. LINCOLN can start by bringing the 2022 Zephyr concept from China to America then built a real luxury flagship Continental EV and Super Chief Blackwood EV to take on Hummer to get customers back N2 the showrooms
Why no EVs exactly? You still waiting on the infrastructure to come first? You gonna be waiting for a long time. The infrastructure comes after increased demand.
