Ford F-150 Lightning sales fell seven percent to 7,187 units during the first quarter of 2025, placing second among five entries in the full-size mainstream electric pickup truck segment when ranked by sales volume.
The Tesla Cybertruck, the newest entry here, led the pack with 9,000 deliveries, a 17-fold increase year-over-year. It was followed by the F-150 Lightning (see running Ford F-150 Lightning sales) in second place, the oldest vehicle in this space. The Chevy Silverado EV (see running Chevy Silverado EV sales), took third as sales grew 125 percent to 2,383 units, and the Rivian R1T placed fourth with a 33 percent downturn to 1,600 units. The GMC Sierra EV (see running GMC Sierra EV sales), corporate sibling of the Silverado EV, finished out the list with 1,249 deliveries.
Note that sales of both the Cybertruck and R1T are estimates from analysts, as neither Tesla nor Rivian break out the figures on a model line basis.

The battery electric pickup truck segment grew 83 percent to 21,419 deliveries in Q1 2025, meaning F-150 Lightning sales significantly underperformed the segment average.
It’s worth noting that the F-150 Lightning outsold the two EV trucks currently fielded by FoMoCo’s crosstown rival, GM, roughly two-fold.

The Ford Authority Take
Though Ford F-150 Lightning sales were in the red during Q1, The Blue Oval still managed to outsell The General nearly two-to-one, while also coming very close to dethroning the (estimated sales) of the Tesla Cybertruck.
Clearly, all entries here – even the Cybertruck – aren’t particularly popular, resulting in a stifled segment. As a result of this, the upcoming Ram 1500 REV has been delayed yet again, and Stellantis had already killed the long range version of its battery electric truck. These moves come amid overall weak demand for EV pickups, which prompted Ford to idle production of the F-150 Lightning for seven weeks this past winter.
About Ford F-150 Lightning
The Ford F-150 Lightning is the battery electric version of the best-selling F-150 full-size pickup truck.
The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning gets a new package and software updates. That includes the new Dark Elements appearance package, available on the Platinum trim level, adding 22-inch black-painted wheels, black Ford ovals and badging, and a black interior.
Here are all three 2025 F-150 Lightning packages explained and everything you need to know about the grilles. The 2025 drops the Avalanche paint color but adds a new Space White Metallic hue. Check out the 2025 Lightning paint colors and available wheels.
The all-electric full-size pickup truck also gets BlueCruise 1.4, which offers a smoother, more natural hands-free highway driving experience.
F-150 Lightning customers can now access real-time charging information in the vehicle (including current charging speed), set a universal charge limit for all locations instead of only for an individual charger, and schedule preferred charge times at specific locations. North American Charging Standard (NACS) fast charging stations have now been integrated into Apple CarPlay, and customers can purchase an optional Tesla adapter that enables them to use those types of chargers.
For 2025, the maximum DC fast charging current has improved from 450 amps to 500 amps.
The 2025 F-150 Lightning drops the standard eLocking rear axle, as the automaker has opted to include the E-Locker (as it’s otherwise known) as part of the optional Max Trailer Tow Package, and also ditched the Interior Work Surface feature for the XLT and Flash trims, though it’s still standard on the Lariat and Platinum.
But, the Flash trim gains standard ActiveX seating instead of cloth, while across the lineup the spare tire is now optional, replaced by the Tire Inflator and Seal Kit. The 2025 model also gains standard SiriusXM 360LÂ and retains the factory installed SecuriCode Keypad after all, on two trims.

Comment
This article is misleading. Lighting is selling at almost half price of Silverado and Sierra EVs. So, these numbers don’t tell the true. Sorry!
