Ford Expedition sales grew 17 percent to 19,911 units, placing third behind GM’s Tahoe/Suburban and Yukon ranges. Note that sales of the Expedition (see running Ford Expedition sales) includes those of the regular-length Expedition and the extended-length Expedition Max.
The regular-length Chevy Tahoe and extended-length Suburban continued to lead the segment on a combined basis, which has been the case for well over two decades. Sales of the duo grew 30 percent to 47,253 units. Individually, the regular-length Tahoe (see running Chevy Tahoe sales) placed first with a 27 percent bump to 33,367 units. Sales of the regular-length GMC Yukon (see running GMC Yukon sales) and the extended-length GMC Yukon XL (see running GMC Yukon XL sales) are combined this quarter; the family placed second thanks to a 164 percent leap to 28,519 units.

The full-size mainstream SUV segment expanded 35 percent to 111,142 deliveries in Q4 2024, meaning Expedition family sales underperformed the segment average.
During Q4 2024, Ford Expedition sales remained in third place, behind Chevy and GMC. The Expedition did place second in Q2 2024, so a third place is not as good as it can get for The Blue Oval’s entry. But there is a silver lining here.
First, Expedition sales were in the green during the current quarter and for the 2024 calendar year. Additionally, the Expedition is about to get a major product update in the form of the redesigned 2025 Ford Expedition, which debuted this past October. The model features an updated exterior and a revised interior featuring bigger displays and smarter storage solutions, plus an all-new Tremor variant and class-exclusive Split Gate.
Just a month later, The General refreshed its offerings, the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and the 2025 Chevy Suburban along with the 2025 GMC Yukon family. The updated Expedition should compete more favorably with the rest of the pack, and that ought to result in an increase in sales volume.
Refreshed 2025 Ford Expedition debuts first-ever Tremor trim level
The 2024 Ford Expedition gains a new exterior color dubbed Wild Green as a no-cost option, along with the new Excursion Package, which adds floor liners, the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package and the Advanced Cargo Manager with black roof rail crossbars, along with suspension/drivetrain upgrades such as ControlTrac with eLSD, a 3.73-geared electronic limited-slip differential, and the Continuous Controlled Damping (CCD) system with suspension road preview. The 2024 Expedition gains one new exterior color, known as Wild Green, but ditches two colors, namely Infinite Blue Metallic Tinted Clearcoat and Forged Green Metallic.
