From a segment share standpoint, the F-Series posted a 36 percent segment share, up two percentage points year-over-year. The Silverado followed with a 25 percent share, down one percentage point, as the Ram Pickup maintained a 16 percent share and the Sierra earned a 15 percent share, up one percentage point. Finally, the Tundra held a six percent share, down one percentage point. The rest of the field each held a segment share of one percent or less.

Combining Chevy Silverado sales with those of the all-electric Silverado EV, plus GMC Sierra sales with the Sierra EV, gave GM more than a quarter of a million deliveries this quarter. Its 250,178 combined sales, for a 41 percent segment share, were higher than Ford’s 222,459 units by almost 9K units. That keeps The General as America’s best-seller of full-size pickups, moving two out of every five trucks during the quarter.

Looking at only GM battery electric trucks combined shows that the automaker is slowly catching up to F-150 Lightning sales, though The Blue Oval is way ahead even as sales of the Lightning were in the red.

The Ford Authority Take

As has been the case for years decades, the Ford F-Series outsold the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra on an individual basis, enabling the F-Series to continue as America’s best-selling truck for the 48th year in 2024. This quarter, The Blue Oval’s flagship trucks totaled 222K deliveries. The performance, spearheaded by the impressive 11.5 percent increase, is what enabled The Blue Oval to outpace the segment average, thereby growing its share.

However, crosstown rival GM did sell more full-size trucks on a combined basis, outselling Ford by nearly 9K units during Q2 2025. These totals for both automakers include ICE and battery electric models alike.

F-Series sales should remain healthy well into the future thanks to the broadest lineup of gas, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains in the segment. Additionally, we believe Ford will continue finding success with the F-Series as a result of a modern and competitive lineup comprised of the Super Duty (overhauled for the 2023 MY) and refreshed F-150 (refreshed for the 2024 MY) – which includes the new-for-2025 Lobo. Our prognosis doesn’t take into account external macro factors like supply or production issues and tariffs, though the F-Series has ample U.S.- based production.

Meanwhile, a Ford Super Duty redesign is on track to debut in 2028 following a mid-cycle refresh scheduled for 2026, along with EREV variants (extended-range EVs) set to arrive at some point in the medium-term future. From where we stand, the future for the F-Series seems bright thanks to broadest lineup of gas, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains in the segment.

About Ford F-150

The 2025 Ford F-150 follows the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 and arrives with few changes. The 2025 model deletes the factory-installed SecuriCode keypad, though it’s still available as a dealer-installed option. The 2025 F-150 will also drops the factory Connected Navigation feature on XL and STX trims, which was previously standard across the 2024 F-150 lineup. Additionally, the XLT will only offer Connected Navigation on the Mid and High equipment groups, though it does include a one-year trial for the service.

Additionally, the 2025 F-150 has dropped the previously-available Heritage Edition, which debuted back in June of 2022 for the 2023 model year as a bit of a retro throwback, and has also ditched the three-year BlueCruise subscription option. Finally, the 2025 lineup deletes a pair of exterior color options, namely Avalanche and Darkened Bronze Metallic, but gains two new ones, those being Marsh Gray and Space White Metallic.

The 2025 Ford F-150 Lobo officially debuts as an all-new street pickup. It follows introduction of the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo and is essentially a comprehensive appearance package for the STX trim, specifically STX Mid package SuperCrew pickups. Additionally, the Lobo Package functionally drops the truck by two inches and includes two-speed automatic four-wheel-drive connected to the Coyote 5.0L V8 engine, with output unchanged at 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Notably, the new variant comes with reduced towing and payload ratings.

About Ford Super Duty

The 2025 Ford Super Duty offers some changes to the trim level lineup along with some shuffling around in terms of standard powertrains. That includes the 2025 Super Duty Platinum trim level getting a bit of its own refresh for the new model year, which adds a new Platinum Plus Package, which replaces the Limited trim, providing special touches coupled with a special ownership experience.

Notably, for 2025, the Lariat gets ActiveX synthetic seating material. Consequently, customers who want a leather interior will need to opt for a higher trim level such as the King Ranch or Platinum. The 2025 model also ditches the Sport Package for the Black Appearance Package.

The latest FoMoCo model to get rid of the factory SecuriCode keypad, the 2025 Super Duty has also ditched a handful of configurations that include the SuperCab with a 148-inch wheelbase, SuperCab Lariat models, and SuperCab F-350 and F-450 dual rear wheel pickups. In terms of powertrains, the gas 6.8L V8 is now standard equipment on the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims, while the gas 7.3L V8 is standard on the King Ranch and Platinum. The 2025 model adds trailer tire pressure monitoring packages as dealer-installed options.

About Ford F-150 Lightning

The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning gets a new package and software updates. That includes the new Dark Elements appearance package, available on the Platinum trim level, adding 22-inch black-painted wheels, black Ford ovals and badging, and a black interior.

The 2025 F-150 Lightning drops the standard eLocking rear axle, as the automaker has opted to include the E-Locker (as it’s otherwise known) as part of the optional Max Trailer Tow Package, and also ditched the Interior Work Surface feature for the XLT and Flash trims, though it’s still standard on the Lariat and Platinum.

But, the Flash trim gains standard ActiveX seating instead of cloth, while across the lineup the spare tire is now optional, replaced by the Tire Inflator and Seal Kit. The 2025 model also gains standard SiriusXM 360L and retains the factory installed SecuriCode Keypad after all, on two trims.

The all-electric full-size pickup truck also gets BlueCruise 1.4, which offers a smoother, more natural hands-free highway driving experience.
