Ford Mustang sales increased in the United States and Canada but decreased in Mexico during the second quarter of 2025, with 76 deliveries recorded in Brazil, 19 in Argentina, and none in Colombia.

Sales of the Ford Mustang (see running Ford Mustang sales) edged up three percent year-over-year to 14,174 units in Q2 2025, enabling it to lead a space it currently owns thanks to its two primary rivals having abandoned it.
The discontinued Dodge Challenger placed second with 579 deliveries followed by the discontinued Chevy Camaro (see running Chevy Camaro sales) in third with just 111 sales as remaining inventory sells out. To make things more interesting, we’re presenting sales results of the expanded mainstream two-door sports car segment.

In this slightly expanded environment of four additional models, the Toyota 86 saw sales cut in half to 2,650 units, followed by the new Dodge Charger EV, which earned 2,352 deliveries. It was followed by the Mazda MX-5 Miata with 2,326 deliveries and the Subaru BRZ with 863 units.
The Mustang earned a dominant 61 percent share of the expanded segment, which contracted an average of 35 percent to 23,055 units.
The S650-generation Mustang remains the only game in town since its primary rivals have left the building, as it were. Furthermore, The Blue Oval’s pony car was one of only two models posting positive sales gains in an expanded space of mainstream two-door sports cars during Q2 2025, and its volume puts the whole field to shame, representing two-thirds of all sales.
On the topic of any future two-door muscle car competition for the Mustang, a next-generation Chevy Camaro may not be revived after all, though the possibility keeps coming up. Just this month GM President Mark Reuss outlined the criteria for a next-generation Camaro, meaning the door still seems to be open.
“I think that formula of beauty – and a little bit of functionality and fun – all of that is important. If we were getting back into Camaro, that piece of it is really important,” Reuss said.
In the meantime, the Mustang won’t be the last V8 muscle car standing, according to a report, as a Hemi V8 is destined for the upcoming reimagined Dodge Charger along with a Hurricane I-6 powerplant. The new Charger will emphasize ICE variants even as it also launches an EV variant called the Daytona, which cannot to burnouts – something muscle car enthusiasts expect regardless of what is “under the hood.” Worse still, the Charger Daytona EV was recalled because it isn’t loud enough, with missing software preventing it from emitting exterior sounds including pedestrian warnings. That’s never a problem for a true muscle like the Mustang.
Recently, the four-door 2026 Dodge Charger Daytona EV launched, with an ICE option on the way.
Meanwhile, Dodge is pondering an entry-level Mustang rival, priced at around the “sub-$30,000 mark.” That’s as the base Dodge Charger Daytona R/T is officially dead for 2026, with a high price tag leading to slow sales and the subsequent discontinuation of the entry-level variant.
Come what may, the Mustang Dark Horse beats the Charger EV in a new test, and continues to thrive as the rest of the two-door sports car marketplace flounders.
For FoMoCo’s part, CEO Jim Farley has stated flatly that “we will never make an all-electric Mustang,” adding that a V8 will be offered for as long as possible. Even so, a Mustang hybrid seems quite likely and more realistic than an EV. Farley even said a Mustang sedan could happen at some point, reviving previous rumors. Earlier this year, Ford Authority uncovered several trademark applications for the term Mach 4, which will likely be used to name the upcoming four-door Mustang.
Of course, one “Mustang” – the Ford Mustang Mach-E – is a four-door, all-electric crossover, but it represents the sub-brand in name only.
Speaking of “in name only,” there is also the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD that debuted as an 800 horsepower supercar about two years ago, hailed as the fastest production pony car in history – so much so that it became the very first vehicle from an American brand to complete a lap at the famous Nürburgring track in under seven minutes. Now crosstown rival GM wants the Chevy Corvette to beat the Mustang GTD at the ‘Ring.
And then there’s the average buyer-accessible variants and tuning offered by the likes of Shelby, Roush, and Steeda, with a dealer offering a GTD-like Mustang Dark Horse Spirit Of America with a Roush tune.
Even law enforcement has taken to The Blue Oval’s two-door sports car again by adding it to their respective fleets from Florida to Virginia.
The one, the only, original pony car, the Ford Mustang, is in full gait with no sign of it stopping.
The 2025 Ford Mustang S650 arrives with some updates to the all-new, seventh-generation 2024 Ford Mustang. The Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary Package debuts, available on GT Premium models in both coupe and convertible configurations, and with either the six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission. Paint color choices include Wimbledon White, Race Red, and Vapor Blue paint, plus Brittany Blue for a limited time, which debuted on the pony car in 1967.
Also for 2025, the Mustang drops four colors but adds two new ones, drops the EcoBoost High Performance Package, and drops wireless phone charging. However, it gains standard dual zone climate control and B&O sound system availability has expanded.
