Is the carbon build up a problem in the 2.7L as it is in the other ecoboost engines?

Recently, Farley made a statement to the retired engineers of Ford that… “it will take 3 years for quality to be improved”. Is he still working for Toyota? That is the best Marketing statement for the competition to use against Ford. If I was a salesman for a competitor, I’d have that printed out and it would be reading material in the sales lobby. As a stock holder, I don’t take that kind of attitude as a desire to improve! It maybe time for him to move on!

I just received my 2023 Mach-E GT and when you try and use the APA button it doesn’t activate. Instead, it trys to navigate you to a local parking facility. This is pretty sneaky by ford. Why didn’t they eliminate the button???

I too have the squealing back brakes and was told it’s a Ford thing. NOT the answer I want!
I bought a brand new vehicle and it sounds like a piece of crap. Just started is a squeal under the hood that sounds like a belt. I haven’t addressed that yet.

Unfortunately, Ford has bought into all the BS “climate hype” about EVs. Electric pickups don’t have nearly the tow capacity that fuel trucks have. And, like you said, it takes forever to charge them up, if you can find a #2 charging station…..which probably gets its power from fossil fuel generation plants. Who do “they” think they are kidding? Oh! I know………the dummies who don’t understand the physics of this planet.

I’m with you, Harvey. I special-ordered my F250 in February 2022. It was finished being built on 28 September 2022. First delivery lie was 18-28 October. Second delivery lie was 14-20 November. Third delivery period, we have yet to see if it is a lie, is 13-19 December. The truck has been sitting on ramp 1K at the Kentucky truck plant since 28 September. Two and a half months!!! One would think that a special order truck would have priority over trucks made to sit on dealer lots. But, NOOOOOOOO!

If I was CEO of Ford, I would immediately fire everybody in the shipping end of the company and replace them with competent shipping-experienced people. Whenever I call Ford to ask, “when is my truck going to ship?” all I get is the old supply chain, supply chain, supply chain answer.

I sure hope this third delivery period is correct! I NEED TO HAVE THIS TRUCK!

I’ve got one coming next week. At the Ford factory in Bangkok right now doing what ever they do. I’ll know more once it is here in Udon. One thing I do know, paid 3 times what it would have cost in the states. Customs yes and typical Thai mark up.

I ordered mine in Feb, got it in August. I ordered vinyl floors instead of carpet. I received carpet, dealer said they must have been out of vinyl, they could send it back to get vinyl installed. I decided not to wait again. I’m not going to go into what it took to get the scratch/dent fixed that was in the rear driver door. Dealer said Ford had to fix it, Ford said it was the dealers fault. My last Ford product.

The failures are due to hot spots in the top of the block that lead to head gasket failure and coolant entering (often) #3 cylinder. On Youtube Ford Tech Makuloco discusses the EcoBoost coolant issue extensively in one video. You can Google it and watch. The early EB’s had an issue with cylinder cooling passages in the block between #2 and 3 cylinder. Basically the outer bores (#1 and 4) are surrounded on 3 sides with coolant jacket passage while 2 and 3 only have coolant jacket on the front and rear of the bores. This leads to hot spots in the top the block from engine operation but it’s inherent in all in line engines. The EB is aluminum block and head though, so heat transfer and resiliance is an issue (where it wasn’t on older cast iron block and head straight 4 and 6 designs). On the EcoBoost line from 13-16, Ford used a slot at the top of the divider between these bores (1-2, 2-3 and 3-4) cast into the top of the block but the passage get blocked over time by coolant degredation and or debris leading to a hot spot and point failure of the head gasket (again, often at #3 cylinder.) The design was apparently changed by engineers for the 2017 MY so 17-20 MY vehicles may be less prone to the issue. The alteration involved using diagonally drilled holes in the dividers between cylinders (#2 and 3) which increases coolant flow and eliminates the hot spots that lead to head warping, head gasket failure and coolant loss.
Ironically while the EcoBoost family is based loosely on the previous inline Duratec family of non turbo engines, few of them showed this flaw meaning Ford for some reason went with this slot idea over drilled passages when the conversion to the EcoBoost family was made around 2011. Ostensibly it might have been a cost saving measure (a slot in the top of the block between cylinders is likely cheaper to machine than drilling diagonal holes in every block) so the bean counters likely struck a blow here and messed up what was a pretty good product. Ford Tech Makuloco in his video notes this happens on higher mileage EB mills somewhere around the 70-100k range and if it gets catastrophic the engine is a goner. The advice it to watch coolant vigilantly and if the motor starts gulping it and you get misfire codes on the OBD it’s probably bad news. My wifes 16 Fusion has the 1.5 EB. I love the car. But at almost 70k, thinking it’s time to trade it out lest the motor goes in the next 20k miles due to this condition. One word of advice would be to drain and flush the cooling system earlier than the owners manual says (I think the service is at 90K) and try to remove anything floating around in there that may block these slots. And always use the Ford spec coolant because it has the right chemistry and additives for the alloys in these engines.

Update. Yesterday. Ford again pushed back my delivery date. Now Dec. 21-27. Of which 4 or more days are the Christmas holiday. So a 2023 delivery is looking more likely..

I have a 2007 mustang, I had throttle body defect, car accelerated by itself, I had no control and went through a door and damaged the car. I repaired car with insurance. I had to buy new throttle body cost was 1526.00 dollars, insurance would not cover. Now premium will increase. It was a Ford problem, I have read many testimonials from others who have had same problem. No recall. Looking for the Ford manufacturing to support me so I can get a no fault claim and clear my driving record. Can someone help with my problem.
