Ford Pickup Truck Sales Post Impressive Growth During Q2 2025

Ford pickup sales, which includes the Ford Maverick, Ford Ranger, Ford F-Series, and all-electric F-150 Lighting, grew 15 percent to 288,564 units during the second quarter of 2025 in the United States.

Unsurprisingly, the internal combustion-powered F-Series family remained the best-seller among Ford trucks as sales increased 13 percent to 216,617 units year-over-year (see running Ford F-Series sales). These figures include the F-150 light duty and Super Duty heavy duty truck lines.

The Maverick compact pickup (see running Ford Maverick sales) was second, posting a 26 percent uptick to 48,041 units. That enabled it to outsell the Ranger (see running Ford Ranger sales) midsize pickup nearly 3-to-1, which saw sales jump 36 percent for 18,064 deliveries.

Meanwhile, the F-150 Lighting (see running Ford F-150 Lightning sales) light duty full-size electric pickup was the only one in the red as sales slid 26 percent to 5,842 units.

The Ford Authority Take

U.S. Ford pickup sales grew a very healthy 15 percent in Q2 2025, with all ICE-powered trucks in the green and The Blue Oval’s battery-electric pickup in the red. The F-Series added 25K units to the bottom line, Maverick added around 10K and the Ranger added about 5K. Meanwhile, the F-150 Lighting sapped around 2K units from the bottom line.

The Ranger posted the biggest sales gain on a percentage basis, followed by the Maverick.

FoMoCo likely owes its existence to the F-Series, which is America’s best-selling truck for the 48th year in a row. The model range remains vital for the automaker’s financial health and ongoing success, enabling it to pursue niche and developing segments like EVs and sports cars.

Notably, the compact Maverick, continues to outpace its larger sibling, the midsize Ranger. The popular small pickup offers a low price but enough utility and performance to result in a high value proposition for buyers.

About Ford F-150

The 2025 Ford F-150 follows the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 and arrives with few changes. The 2025 model deletes the factory-installed SecuriCode keypad, though it’s still available as a dealer-installed option. The 2025 F-150 will also drops the factory Connected Navigation feature on XL and STX trims, which was previously standard across the 2024 F-150 lineup. Additionally, the XLT will only offer Connected Navigation on the Mid and High equipment groups, though it does include a one-year trial for the service.

Additionally, the 2025 F-150 has dropped the previously-available Heritage Edition, which debuted back in June of 2022 for the 2023 model year as a bit of a retro throwback, and has also ditched the three-year BlueCruise subscription option. Finally, the 2025 lineup deletes a pair of exterior color options, namely Avalanche and Darkened Bronze Metallic, but gains two new ones, those being Marsh Gray and Space White Metallic.

The 2025 Ford F-150 Lobo officially debuts as an all-new street pickup. It follows introduction of the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo and is essentially a comprehensive appearance package for the STX trim, specifically STX Mid package SuperCrew pickups. Additionally, the Lobo Package functionally drops the truck by two inches and includes two-speed automatic four-wheel-drive connected to the Coyote 5.0L V8 engine, with output unchanged at 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Notably, the new variant comes with reduced towing and payload ratings.

About Ford Super Duty

The 2025 Ford Super Duty offers some changes to the trim level lineup along with some shuffling around in terms of standard powertrains. That includes the 2025 Super Duty Platinum trim level getting a bit of its own refresh for the new model year, which adds a new Platinum Plus Package, which replaces the Limited trim, providing special touches coupled with a special ownership experience.

Notably, for 2025, the Lariat gets ActiveX synthetic seating material. Consequently, customers who want a leather interior will need to opt for a higher trim level such as the King Ranch or Platinum. The 2025 model also ditches the Sport Package for the Black Appearance Package.

The latest FoMoCo model to get rid of the factory SecuriCode keypad, the 2025 Super Duty has also ditched a handful of configurations that include the SuperCab with a 148-inch wheelbase, SuperCab Lariat models, and SuperCab F-350 and F-450 dual rear wheel pickups. In terms of powertrains, the gas 6.8L V8 is now standard equipment on the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims, while the gas 7.3L V8 is standard on the King Ranch and Platinum. The 2025 model adds trailer tire pressure monitoring packages as dealer-installed options.

A Ford Super Duty redesign is on track to debut in 2028 following a mid-cycle refresh scheduled for 2026, with EREV variants (extended-range EVs) set to arrive at some point. The Super Duty was refreshed for 2023.

About Ford Ranger

The 2025 Ford Ranger arrives without major changes or updates over the all-new 2024 Ford Ranger, though it does gain an all-new 2.3L EcoBoost I4 engine. Here is what changed compared to 2024 model.

The high-performance Ranger Raptor is powered by the twin-turbocharged Ford 3.0L V6 EcoBoost, rated at 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque on premium fuel, sending power to the wheels via Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission, an electronically-controlled on-demand two-speed transfer case, and front- and rear-locking differentials.

Notably, the 2025 model gets a dealer installed keyless entry keypad, replacing the factory-installed SecuriCode option like The Blue Oval continues to do across its the board.

About Ford Maverick

The refreshed 2025 Ford Maverick debuts with Ford Sync 4, hybrid all-wheel drive, and an updated design, along with the first-ever 2025 Maverick Lobo as an all-new performance pickup. A review roundup concludes that it is a legit street truck. Here is the Lobo drive mode explained.

Meanwhile, the Tremor package gets upgraded to the pickup’s top trim level and the XL trim continues as the base model.

The 2025 Maverick Lariat trim and EcoBoost both ditch front-wheel drive, with the turbocharged engine now only available with all-wheel drive. Ford Authority has learned that the 2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD can be flat towed after all. Here’s everything you need to know about 2025 Maverick transmissions, including the new Lobo’s 7-speed gearbox sourced from the now-discontinued Ford Edge ST.

Check out all the 2025 Maverick paint colors – after dropping four of them – the interior colorways, and available wheels, plus every grille and package offered.

About Ford F-150 Lightning

The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning gets a new package and software updates. That includes the new Dark Elements appearance package, available on the Platinum trim level, adding 22-inch black-painted wheels, black Ford ovals and badging, and a black interior.

For 2025, the maximum DC fast charging current has improved from 450 amps to 500 amps.

The 2025 F-150 Lightning drops the standard eLocking rear axle, as the automaker has opted to include the E-Locker (as it’s otherwise known) as part of the optional Max Trailer Tow Package, and also ditched the Interior Work Surface feature for the XLT and Flash trims, though it’s still standard on the Lariat and Platinum.

But, the Flash trim gains standard ActiveX seating instead of cloth, while across the lineup the spare tire is now optional, replaced by the Tire Inflator and Seal Kit. The 2025 model also gains standard SiriusXM 360L and retains the factory installed SecuriCode Keypad after all, on two trims.

The all-electric full-size pickup truck also gets BlueCruise 1.4, which offers a smoother, more natural hands-free highway driving experience.
